Galene is my newest painting finished in 2023. It was inspired during a Vitra class with Morgan Mandala. Maybe because i am a double pisces and so connected to water, my mandala landscape soon became a sea scape and this goddess arose from the waters. I ran a contest to help name the paintings and received many great suggestions but the one submitted by Shara Osgood "Galene" rang truest to the painting. Galene,(Γαλήνη) an ancient Greek goddess personifying calm seas. Galene is one of the 50 Nereids, sea-nymph daughters of the 'Old Man of the Sea' Nereus and the Oceanid Doris and is helpful towards sailors fighting perilous storms. Calm and beautiful she is as she swims and protects us.when at sea.
