This artwork is inspired by my love of medieval fantasy. From an early age I have been captivated by mythical creatures in art and books.This artwork was inspired by bronze statues, depicting strong action poses. I wanted to capture a dragon about to launch into flight.
I first made an armature out of wire to get the basic pose, this also helps to hold up the clay.
Then I bulked out the shape of the dragon with foil before adding clay and painting it bronze.
To finish, I mounted it on a piece of wood painted black.
