"Stewart Taylor is continuing onwards with his Tree Portraits series, which he started over 3 years ago in London, prior to him leaving for Devon in late 2020. Initially inspired by the street trees of the city (he rendered over 100 of these in his surrounding neighborhood during the first lockdown.), these moved outwards to the parks and the wilds beyond, quickly becoming a conversation about our lack of connectivity with the natural world.
In the past 12 months he has created Joshua Tree prints ['Cima Dome Fire XIV is in this year's fair] from the Mojave National Preserve, where over 1 million trees were destroyed by a huge wildfire in 2020; trees from the Avon Valley Woods under traditional husbandry by The Woodland Trust; and also collaborative pieces, including trees from the banks of the Danube in Slovakia photographed by fellow artist Eva Boda ['Little Punks IV' is on display here].
This series will continue to help raise awareness for protecting our environment in 2023, including through donating prints for various progressive conservation/rewilding fundraisers, both in the UK & USA."
