"As an artist, Cayetano Sanz de Santamaria is drawn to the figurative approach, but his work is deeply influenced by surrealism and the exploration of the human psyche. His art is a tapestry of personal experiences and outside inspirations, interwoven with hidden narratives meant to engage and challenge the viewer. He believes that aesthetics, figuration, and metaphor are powerful tools to communicate his stories. As a professional artist, he aspires to be a voice for his country, Colombia, and to use his work as a tool for questioning and reflecting on the realities and complexities of our world. His goal is to inspire others to explore and embrace the power of creativity.

Cayetano's recent etchings, The Lord of Light, shows us the growth of a rooster from egg to adult, representing the ability to dominate our mind and outgrow our demons, anxieties, fears, and sorrows and learn how to live with them under control.

Cayetano (Colombian born in 1997) graduated from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in 2021 with Highest Honors. He is based in London and is currently completing his MFA at the Royal College of Arts.

Throughout his career, he has participated in different exhibitions and projects. Highlights include the silent auction of the Association of Friends of the National Museum of Bogot� where his artwork The Lord of Light received the highest number of bids(2022), a solo exhibition in Galeria La Localidad, the prize of the Colombian news channel Caracol TV to produce exclusive prints, the elaboration of drawings for the production of Corona/Homecenter crockery and several group exhibitions.
