Scotch College Principal's Senior School Art Prize , 2023

Scotch students are a talented group of young men in so many areas. In our Visual Art subjects and in Media we see so much creativity throughout the student body.
We created the inaugural Principal’s Senior School Art Prize to celebrate those students who imagine, who think and then express their ideas through visual artworks. These are passionate students who may go on to work in design, architecture, film, media, photography, advertising or fine art fields when they leave our school. Recent history tells us that many of our students go on to excel in these areas.
Most of the student who submitted entries have created the artworks in their spare time, specifically for the competition. They should all be very proud of their work as the standard of entries was excellent.
Dr Marsh agreed to help judge the competition, joining Mr. John Kuzma and Ms. Saskia Pandji-Sakti, both technicians in the Art dept. and both of whom have worked in the Art industry for many years as artists, exhibition designers and curators. Our judges considered each student’s visual work as well as their statement of intention. All of our judges commented on how difficult it was to judge the artworks, as the works were simply of such high quality.
You can get a taste of how difficult it was to judge this prize by looking at all the artworks and choosing your favorites. Will you agree with our judges?
