PROJECT BRIEF:
Our design approach for the competition is a continuous structure, slicing through the city producing a contrast to the current urban expansion. Initiation began with linear structures following the concept of the SUPERSTUDIO proposing the idea of a continuous design.
Our interpretation of the library is a collection of information, experiences, memories in one space which allows people to gain access to various information within an infinite space and they can also relive a certain time of their life.
We aim to expand the already existing event spaces in the city to a higher level on the horizontal linear structure which reduces the density of overall urban fabric.
PROGRAM:
The structure acts as an alternate contrasting response to current development patterns in Mumbai and serves the function of an endless library. People can access the structure through the elevated vertical towers. The concept is to give live information and provided faster horizontal transmission of people from one place of the city to other on travelators working at high speed.
The lower connecting linkages have the function of personal pods where one can access virtual library of memories. One can bring in the information and feed it in the pods where people can access those videos and photographs or writings for specific duration.
