This print of diminishing, layering squares of complementary hues comes from Albers' career-long investigation of how colors interact with each other and optically play with one’s eyes. Looking away, the viewer is left with the squares’ after-images as a result of the geometric fields of color, which seem to combine and reproduce in our vision. (NC)
