In this piece, I reflected upon the various circles of Inferno, the first circle being the most ludicrous in my opinion. The idea of unbaptized good people being punished in "Hell Light" is still pushed today by the same institution Dante criticized in the 14th century.

In the 8th Circle of Inferno, Dante identifies different areas for different types of fraudulent, deceptive people. In his time, Dante was highly critical of "simony" which is the act of the church allowing those with money to "buy their way into heaven." In one area, pimps and f*ckboys are whipped by demons. In another, sycophants are buried in sewage. In another area, simonists of the church are buried upside down and have their feet burned. The list goes on to torture different types of con artists and politicians. However, I must respect Dante for calling out hypocrisy as he saw it, especially at that time.

I wanted to capture the essence of these circles in my piece, "Infernal Cycle." There are various figures moving around in a circle, almost like a treadmill. Are they on their way to meet justice or to deliver it? How have you dealt with deceptive people in your life, whether you've been robbed financially, emotionally, psychologically, physically, or all of the above? If you had to describe your own vision of a realm of punishment for those who have hurt you, what would that look like?
