I have been interested in Art and Photography since childhood. I have exhibited before, and have had offers to exhibit since (Covid got in the way, unfortunately, and other offers were not ideal). I am not particularly interested in making money or being commercial. I am just following my commitment to Art, and the environment.

Getting out regularly to look for images, is great for my mental wellbeing. I am Autistic and find life very challenging day-to-day. The mindful approach to photography and art is of great personal benefit. But more than anything, I want to share my photographs with art lovers who might appreciate my work. If I am so lucky.

I have a personal fascination with wonderful weirdly shaped, ancient, and natural rocks near to where I live.

The Dark Peak is a primordial landscape. It's harsh, difficult, unforgiving, and challenging. The area is a large part of The Peak District National Park, created in 1952. It covers an area of 555 square miles. It is a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). That means it is land notified as an SSSI under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981). My particular fascination is centered on the Gritstone rock that is unique to the Dark Peak. Gritstone formed 322 - 321.5 million years ago during the Carboniferous period. At that time the British Isles were part of a Supercontinent called Pangea (Which means 'all the land' in Greek). Several rivers deposited stone, coarse sand, pebbles, and minerals into a shallow sea. The material sank to the ocean floor. Over time it compressed and lithified into stone. All this happened before the dinosaurs lived, and even before flying insects had evolved.

BTW my name isn't really Alf Field. Alf is a 'shutter name' used in homage to my late grandfather who was a wonderful kind and gentle soul. A man I want to honour and dedicate my work to.
