Size: 170 x 196 cm

In this imaginative reinterpretation of Diego Velázquez's iconic masterpiece 'Las Meninas,' the artist presents a captivating fusion of eras and cultures. Amidst the familiar characters of the Spanish royal court, elements of surrealism emerge, where a majestic horse, delicate ballet slippers, a serene Buddha figure, and other unexpected elements seamlessly integrate into the scene. This eclectic composition challenges the viewer to question the boundaries of time and place, inviting contemplation of the juxtaposition between classical and contemporary, the historical and the transcendent.
As a painter, my sources of inspiration consist of experiences that I have in my daily life and in my dreams. I employ a personal vocabulary to express the ephemeral quality of the world. Within this ambit, my work varies from representational to abstract, and I am continuously moving along these two, sometimes intervening the representational with the abstract. Although the subject matter of my work may vary, color, as an intrinsic element remains its constant theme. I prize color for its powerful symbolism and employ it to communicate emotion and mood.
