My husband, Graeme, was the great grandson of the first superintendent of the Banff National Park, George A Stewart, who had three daughters Francis, Grace and Olive. It is believed George named the Three Sisters after them.

Graeme passed last year and as I am preparing to inter his ashes in the family plot where George Stewart is buried here in Victoria I found myself painting the 'Sisters' once again with thoughts of he and his ancestors very much on my mind. It seems to bring me comfort to focus on this part of his history which connects me to the bigger picture of a life well lived.
