A man jumps off a roof and lies dying on the sidewalk. His imagination brings him to a fantastical land where his suicidal leap instead becomes a ight into the sky. The disorienting plotline portrays the confusion and incongruity in the protagonist’s desires and actions. The sample image depicts a colorful landscape with half-animal-half-human gures emerging
from the ground. The set, inspired by Max Ernst’s painting “Europe After The Rain”, is 12 feet by 15 feet with 400 pounds of color clay.

ABOUT HAISI HU
For over twenty years Haisi Hu has been making and expanding traditional animations such as Claymation and hand-drawn animation. Hu was born in China and immigrated to the US when she was a teenager. She has been living in Brooklyn since 1990. Her claymation lms are shown worldwide and locally, including Animation Nights New York and Brooklyn Film Festival. She is the recipient of the NYFA Fellowship, Jerome Foundation Film Production Grant, NYSCA Film/Media grants. She teaches animation to high-school students and works at Cooper Union School of Art as a lm technician, and from the same school, she also obtained her BFA degree.
