Magma (elle/el/ella, they, he, she)

Magma is an interdisciplinary artist from Bogotá, Colombia. They find their form in their interaction with the world as a Black ‘marika’ (Queer/Trans/Non-Binary person) and in the narratives and relationships of the street and ‘el barrio’ (the ‘hood’). Transformation and movement are integral parts of their creative processes; and amongst this movement and formation, they become an illustrator, engraver, poet, singer and photographer. This year, centering community and action, they founded a new blossoming project called Casa Marikita, an anarcho- transfeminist collective living space grounded in collective liberation through art, love, and radical relationship.

La denuncia poética de vivir y estar muertos al mismo tiempo
en territorios donde los imaginarios han capitalizado nuestra propia percepción de la vida,
hacen del arte el espacio para exponernos, así sin filtro;

The poetic denunciation of living and being dead at the same time
in territories where imaginaries have capitalized our own perception of life,
make art the space to expose ourselves, without filter;
without the victimization of the gaze of the other.
I laugh and scream at the same time,
I eat bananas with soup and
I feel happy for rainy days that change to a ray of sunshine after 5 minutes.
Every time I see a rainbow, two more appear,
because nothing is hidden in the mountains.
That's why I'm on the mountain, trying to be seen.

IMAGE DESCRIPTION
This digital drawing shows a black non-binary person with short orange hair, slim figure, hairy body and striking facial features, standing in front of a large flame slightly wider and taller than her body in shades of blue. The flame is surrounded on both sides by a symmetrical design of a peacock feather, stems and leaves in shades of light green and blue. At the height of the person's head, above this design, are symmetrical drawings of an inward-facing purple crescent moon with a smaller blue sun within. The person is standing on a large green sun shape, where lie a sloth with beige, brown and pink colors on the right side, and a yellow puma with 3 small purple flowers on its back on the left side. The two animals are facing inwards with their mouths open, holding their paws at the level of the person's knees. The background of the image is fuchsia, and in each corner is a layered blue and purple circular ornament.
