I edit my photographs with multiple apps and digitally “paint” them. Combined with long and double exposures, this technique conveys movement and the passing of time. Stories of connection and transformation are illustrated by dramatic contrasts of light, colour and texture. They celebrate the power and beauty of Nature and its hidden surprises. My biggest inspiration are mountains, forests and sea, as well as the luminosity and abstract qualities of the art of J.M.W. Turner, the nineteenth century British artist. After taking a freighter from Vancouver to Alaska, Kirsty emigrated from Scotland to Canada. Further exotic travel to different continents instilled an appreciation for diversity in landscape, art and culture. Future goals include experimenting with retro cameras, mixed media and cyanotypes. Kirsty has worked as an art therapist and been in a group exhibition at the Silk Purse Gallery, West Vancouver (2023). More of her art can be seen on Instagram: the_light_echoes.
