After months of drawing the human figure in art classes, the artist was disturbed to realize they too are composed of flesh and bone, not unlike the live models they studied. The artist's body is seen here pulling a string around its finger. The string is meant to remind the artist that they are not a floating consciousness inhabiting a body, but the body itself. The artist is depicted in their studio-lost in thought, and strangely contorted so that the reminder is out of sight. The artist would much rather forget their own material existence whenever possible.
