In my art, I often turn to ordinary everyday scenes and people that capture my attention. The process of painting them allows me to get in touch with the better part of myself, to evolve, and get closer to understanding who I am meant to be and where I fit into the world at large.

"MEAT" was painted from direct observation, using a mirror to capture myself figuratively and mentally. It was created at the start of the global pandemic, which coincided with the sudden end of a brief yet intensive relationship. The combination of these two events left me feeling vulnerable, exposed, and abandoned. Like a piece of meat on the chopping block.
