Working with graphite and charcoal, my drawing practice is a relentless pursuit of capturing people and things with hyper-realistic quality on paper; to provide the viewer with that slight moment of doubt as to whether or not what they are seeing is a photograph or a drawing. I aim to express every microscopic detail of a subject with high fidelity quality that ultimately yields a product like that of a photograph. Being around water for most of my life, I've found a distinct stillness that washes over the mind when submerged under water. There's a quiet that allows you to go inward which I did my best to highlight in the subject. This drawing captures my love of water with drawing people. It's the largest and most technically challenging figurative drawing I've completed.
