I keep many things about North Africa within me. It's landscapes, it's people, it's sense of welcoming, it's openness, and of course it's music. As I walk endlessly on the beach I hear those wonderful rhythms and melodies that create life and make me feel like dancing. Some people walk through their memories, I dance through them. When I composed Sunwax I returned to my childhood when I used to play in drum circles beating my doumbeck with my bare hands.
