COMMENT: Three days have passed since our unknown Sogdian has died. In the bottom of the panel, three riderless houses and attendants stand in silence. Above, a masked Zoroastrian priest attends the eternal flame, whilst the mourners closest to him are torn with grief. Note the small dog. He will have sniffed his master's corpse, to check that the spirit has indeed moved on. To the right is the Chinvat bridge he must cross.
