Fragments & Remnants
Art Film

Website: https://www.naimaomarkhan.com
Naima Omar Khan's artistic practice explores the fragmented history of her enslaved heritage by drawing on her mixed-race community's oral histories and traditions. She was raised as a Coloured in Apartheid South Africa during the 1980s, one of world history's most tumultuous racial segregation and violence periods. Her performative pieces articulate a rich narrative demonstrating embedded resilience gleaned from the memories of her elders. Her art is her homage to their sacrifices.
