Mongol Infantry awaiting the Charge

The Mongol army was arranged into fighting units from regiments of 1000, to squads of 100 and troops of 100. Commands were often conveyed by drums. Faced with a Samuria challenge to combat, thee would simply surround him and stab him to death. Facing an attack by archers, or by cavalry, they would lock their shields for extra protection. Of course, this did not always work.
