As the centerpiece of ISCARIOT, this drawing needed to bridge all of the artworks together conceptually, despite their disparate content. This proved to be more of a challenge than anticipated- at first, it appeared as though there weren’t any solid connections. However, eventually I realized everything I’ve created has been a reflection of MY journey. Despite making work about religion, my goal is not to venerate God, but to share my story with my audience. Exodus 8:22 implies that in spaces where a swarm of flies exist, God does not. Using the verse as a framework, I drew a swarm of flies to solidify that ISCARIOT is not about celebrating religion- but celebrating the power an individual has to take command of their own life.
