When you look at my paintings, I want you to see a story. I won't tell you what it is. The story is up to you.

My process begins with the germ of an idea. I first sketch a character — generally posed, mid-motion — to capture movement. I continue drawing until I have a fully formed composition then transfer the sketch to canvas. I work with oils. I can layer the paint to create depth and movement. My style is semi-abstract, predominantly black and white to create drama reminiscent of old movies. My subjects are often women simply because I find the female form interesting to paint especially in what are considered traditional male roles.

Thumbing through some old sketches, I came across one of a child sleeping in a chair with an open book on her lap. Her story would become my painting for the theme "Dream".

She is every girl who dreams of growing up strong, fierce, powerful, independent, uninhibited and free.

As for her dog - she'll never be a steed but …

… I won't tell her if you won't.
