When I started working on a piece for this show it was to have been a handwoven wall hanging with ‘tea bag’ interpretive drawings interspersed but like many dreams they twist and turn and evolve. I wanted colour so I put the tea bag idea onto canvas. I pulled an interpretive print made with watercolour paint and plastic wrap onto a canvas. From there I looked at the shapes to see what I could see. Looking at what my unconscious mind did with the mix of the plastic wrap watercolour shapes. The dragon and little beetle general became more evident every time I looked at it. I guess even though I try not to dwell in the reality of the world as it is now it has become a part of my subconscious, whether I chose to ignore it or not. I did get to play with colour.
