Urban ecology has been irreversibly damaged due to unsustainable urbanisation, anthropogenic pollution, and climate change. As the creators of the context in which we dwell, we are the solution.
This thesis explores multi-contextual, pragmatic, evidence-based and novel design approaches to better support urban ecology.
The proposal investigates embedding sustainable interventions within suburbs, focussing on nature-based solutions, materiality, substantiated design methodologies, and User eXperience as potential solutions to the question, how can urban ecology be improved and supported in suburbia through sustainable design actions?
