Lithium mining activities account for a staggering 10% of global water consumption, increasing limitations on farming activities and local communities of the extracting regions.

The current rapid pace of investments in lithium batteries is unsustainable without careful consideration of the environmental and social implications associated with it.

Expressway to Dusk contrasts the swift enthusiasm and unwavering political support for lithium batteries, notably in the race for Gigafactory installations and, if left unaddressed, the consequential impact generated by this technology.

Taking Elon Musk as the symbol, our version of the image shows the inauguration of a Tesla lithium production factory with the detrimental long term environmental impacts from the manufacturing process in the background.

Is it a sustainable future for all or primarily a lucrative opportunity for few ?
