The Corporate Death Notice , 2024

A study conducted by Deloitte shows that 77% of employees in the workforce have experienced feelings of burn out at their current job, with little to no support in getting help from their employer. The absence of work life balance, excessive workloads, lack of recognition and poor relationships are just a few of the many reasons employees are feeling as though they are completely exhausted and defeated through work.

We have taken inspiration from real employee stories found in Bloomberg, CNBC and the NY Times and turned them into obituaries. We chose to name our “Corporate Soldier” Jeff Amazonian, as Amazon, among others, is continually cited by employees facing extreme burnout. We also included a montage of photos that culturally represent memorials after death. If we continue to allow the overworking and mistreatment employees, are we allowing our corporations to work us to death? Are we working to make a life or are we working to die?
