TITLE | In the Mood for Love 花樣年華 , YEAR | 2024

We drew inspiration from the film "In the Mood for Love" (花樣年華), a romantic movie set in 1960s Hong Kong, released in 2000. Our aim was to recreate the film's melancholic atmosphere through narrow, crowded, and dimly lit scenes. Additionally, we incorporated elements from the cheongsams featured in the film. Our cheongsams were a modified style from the 1960s, featuring a high collar, rounded lapel, crossed sleeves, and knee-length design. Under the soft, muted lighting, the cheongsams exuded their charm and unique allure. The form-fitting nature of the dress restricted movement, allowing the audience to feel the suppressed emotions of the wearer.

"In the Mood for Love" (花樣年華) captures the essence of youthful beauty and the fleeting nature of time. Like a blooming flower, it embodies the beauty of those precious years. While showcasing the retro aesthetics of the 1960s, our intention was also to convey a broader message. We wanted to emphasize that regardless of age, gender, or cultural background, everyone has the ability to confidently showcase their beauty and savor every moment of their youth.
