Robert Morrissey is a painter, photographer, teacher, and therapist. He was born in Worcester Massachusetts and currently lives and works in Portland Oregon. He is a licensed art therapist as well as a drug and alcohol counselor. He teaches in the Addiction Counseling program of Portland Community College. He received an MA from New York University and studied at The Art Students League. He has worked in the Behavioral Health Field for the past 25 years in NYC, LA, and Portland.

Series Statement
In the ongoing series, “States of Being”, puppets, mannequins, marionettes, dolls, and statues are enlisted to explore human affect and mood as it relates to our attachments, our drives, our desires, as well as to our deepest fears and longings.

The shaggy like shapes are made of porcelain clay. The color was achieved using coffee, tea, blueberries, mica, and salt. The tube at the bottom holds soil. The watercolor paper is made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste.
