Courage , 2024

Fearless. Determination, Resilience, Trailblazing. These are some of the attributes of courage displayed by African-American women in broadcasting throughout history. These individuals were willing to speak in the face of adversity and overwhelming barriers to speak truth to power, challenge stereotypes, and pave the way for greater representation and diversity in the media industry.

One historical figure who exemplifies courage in broadcasting is Gwen Ifill (1955–2016). Ifill was a pioneering journalist and television anchor who broke barriers as one of the most prominent African-American women in broadcast journalism. She was known for her integrity, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to journalistic excellence.
