Totem pole

Meanwhile,
Back in the day.

This was me sat in front of a totem pole.

I remember like it was just yesterday,
But really, it was 23 years ago,

I was back at infinite school, this was the first time I've ever seen a Totem Pole.

I was like, WOAH.

I wasn't allowed on the grass.
Until the teachers allowed us.

Anyways,
I used to think if I stepped on the grass the teachers would sense it from the other side of the building and kill me.

So I used to walk around the perimeters of the field, slowly walking on the edge of the field.
I was easily noticeable.
The only kid on the field.

I'd be dragged back to go and face the wall.

I already tried it going to it on my own.
Really pushing to limits.

While all the other kids just ran around.

I used to wait for permission to go and sit.
On the summer days, this is where you would find me.

There was all these faces on the pole, leading up to the top where an Eagle was.

I remember sitting once with my hands open and I was meditating with my eyes closed.

I said to my self, a bumble bee is going to land in my hands.
AND THEN.

I felt this bumbling in my hands.
I opened my eyes and saw a fuzzy bumble bee just chilling in the palms of my hands.

I was thinking ,
Hm.

Unable to express what I just experienced.
I returned back with the other kids collecting stone piles.

For some reason, this is what we used to do.

When the field was mowed.
We would collect giant piles of grass.

I'd hear some kids shouting,
OUR GRASS PILE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!
