Monty Ross (1957-) started painting with watercolors during zoom calls to release stress from fundraising for independent films. A filmmaker by trade he felt the urge to paint early in 2002 months after his second child was born.

Taking classes at Pasenda College with John Trees he learned how to draw and paint using the right brain. Influenced by musicians his work incorporates vibrant colors and rhythmic brushstrokes.

Monty Ross’s paintings often depict abstract expressive portraits, capturing the essence of his emotions and experiences. His background as a filmmaker shines through in his visual storytelling, as he creates compositions that evoke a sense of narrative and movement. Monty’s passion for music translates into his art, as he explores the harmonious relationship between colors and rhythms.

Through the medium of watercolors, Monty Ross finds solace and a creative outlet, allowing him to balance the demands of his filmmaking career and personal life. His paintings serve as a testament to the power of art as a means of self-expression and stress relief.
