Chief Allison Ibuluya (1977) writes of women who let go of their spiritual ties to the water:

"At a certain point in their lives, the name they were answering to becomes synonymous with misery—rather than the mercy, blessing, joy, or whatnot of their christening. Trading does not go well. Their health declines. Worst of all, they are failing to produce issue…”

Rosanne is one of the teenage girls that was featured in the 1990 film "Becoming A Woman in Okrika". During her iria ceremony, she had a tumultuous relationship with tradition. Today, she's found faith as a Christian minister.
