These archival pigment prints convey a vision of place without defining given structures or fixed narrative. Manipulating shutter speed and camera shake to abstract often overlooked environments, I use the camera as a mark-making tool to create gestural lines with light that suggest drawing, or blurred washes of color that act like a painter’s brush. Blurry architectural structures, tilted interiors and hazy landscapes suggest our sensory and spatial memory can be triggered simply through a line, shape, or specific color. I use the camera as an investigative tool to understand the essence and feeling of experiencing new places. Much of my work over the past few years was made while traveling, including at airports, train stations, and even at the sea.
