Bowl with opaque white glaze

Chinese blue-white porcelain started arriving in Near East at the end of the 8th century. Local potters imitated them with opaque white glaze. The austere decoration is a local invention: painted in blue, an inscription is written radially and reads "made by Salih" or alternatively "what was done was worthwhile".
