An African young woman Omidan tribally referred to as a maiden portrayed holding a pot on her head has an enduringly elegant quality. With her steady, soft walk and flawless posture, she represents the ideal of femininity, balance, and sustenance. The daily journey to the village well was necessary for the provision of water for drinking, cooking, and washing.
The seeming ease with which Omidan carries the burden is as astounding as the loads themselves and the fact that they rarely fall off. Ease is not a myth.
