Mary Lawlor (Ireland) represents article 20 UDHR.
Mary Lawlor is the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders. In this capacity, she monitors, addresses, and reports on the situations of human rights defenders worldwide to the United Nations in New York and Geneva.
She conducts country visits and offers recommendations to governments. Born and educated in Ireland, she is the Adjunct Professor of Business and Human Rights in the School of Business of Trinity College Dublin.
In 2001, she founded Front Line Defenders, the International Foundation for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders.
Among her notable awards are the French Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneu and the Franco-German Award for Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
