Old Man of Storr
Category Landscape
[BPA2024-35]

Having got up before sunrise, most of the walk up to the Storr viewpoint was done in almost total darkness. The weather went from foggy, to snowy, to gale-force winds and I was pretty convinced my efforts were in vain. Patience paid off, however, as not long after I'd got my breath back at the top the sun crept into view, bathing the surroundings in glorious, golden light and morning sunrise colours. I snapped away furiously both on my phone and my camera, trying to capture each second as the conditions changed. I used the main camera on my iPhone, shooting in RAW in order to give me a higher quality file that would also give more flexibilty in post production to adjust exposure and colour balances. I'm really pleased with the result and I think it justified the early start and the incredibly cold shooting conditions.
