David Sr. enlisted in the Army at the young age of 17, immediately after completing high school. With a steadfast commitment to serving his country, he became a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, known as the Green Berets, where he devoted nearly 25 years of his life. From 2003 to 2006, David Sr. embarked on multiple deployments to Afghanistan, serving valiantly on a Special Forces A-team. Despite being wounded by a grenade while on patrol in 2004, he resiliently returned to service shortly thereafter.
David Jr., inspired by his father's legacy, followed suit and joined the Army after high school. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq shortly after completing basic training. Displaying the same courage and commitment as his father, David Jr. transitioned to the Special Forces, where he served in a manner reminiscent of David Sr.'s service. He, too, deployed to Afghanistan as a member of the Special Forces, where he sustained injuries in action but made a full recovery.
