Caleb Wells enlisted in the Army National Guard after graduating from Lafayette College in New Orleans. He was deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005. During his deployment, he survived a blast from a car bomb, sustaining burns to his face and limbs, but fortunately, without scarring. However, the trauma of his experiences left him with PTSD.

Despite the challenges he faced upon his return, including the breakdown of his marriage and struggles with substance abuse, Caleb managed to overcome his addiction and is now drug-free.
