Horses were indispensable in Tibetan military campaigns and warfare. Cavalry units formed the backbone of Tibetan armies, providing mobility, speed, and agility in combat. Horses were also essential for trade and transportation along the extensive network of trade routes that crisscrossed the Tibetan Plateau and connected Tibet with neighboring regions.
