Truman Doctrine (1947)

The Truman Doctrine, announced by President Harry S. Truman in March 1947, was a pivotal event in shaping the early stages of the Cold War. It emerged in response to the perceived threat of communist expansionism, particularly in Europe. The doctrine articulated a policy of containment aimed at preventing the spread of communism beyond its existing borders.
