Inkling to Evolution
Digital

In ‘Inkling to Evolution,’ I was inspired by the usage of animal enzymes; Octopi technologists are engaging in genetic editing through CRISPR technology, illustrating the potential for transformative change in the intricate tapestry of life, initiated by something as small as an inkling. By blending the imagery of cephalopod intelligence with the precision of genetic manipulation, I aim to provoke contemplation on the delicate balance between scientific advancement and the preservation of biodiversity. On the top right, a scientist's hand can be seen ‘feeding’ the octopi RNA, to aid them in their discovery and research. Through this artwork, I invite viewers to ponder the implications of our newfound ability to shape the evolutionary trajectory of our nature counterparts, sparking conversations about the ethical dimensions of genetic engineering and our responsibility as stewards of the natural world.
