Rori's family emigrated from Cuba to Florida during the communist revolution. Her father, a former general under Batista, had to adapt to a new life, selling cars in the U.S. after their exile. Raised in the Catholic faith, Rori made a significant personal decision during her college years to embrace the teachings of the Quran and convert to Islam.

Throughout her career, Rori encountered challenges due to her decision to wear the headscarf. Despite seeking numerous job opportunities, she faced discrimination from employers who were unwilling to accommodate her religious practice. On one occasion, she reluctantly removed her headscarf but felt deeply uncomfortable, even considering resigning if not permitted to cover herself. However, as she became invaluable to the company, she demanded the right to wear the headscarf and eventually prevailed.

Despite facing setbacks, Rori persevered. Her most recent employer, unlike previous ones, respects her choice to wear the headscarf without issue. Working in the aerospace business, she feels fulfilled and content in her current role, grateful to be part of a corporation that embraces diversity and inclusion.
