I first met Samah in her family-owned carpet store, where she and her husband, Hassan, work side by side. When they visited my studio, it was Hassan who took the lead in our conversation. Samah, ever humble, explained that she often defers to him, acknowledging his eloquence and feeling that she cannot express herself as well.
Both Samah and Hassan hail from Palestinian roots, though Samah spent her formative years in Kuwait. Fate took a curious turn when she attended a family gathering intended to define a suitable match for Hassan's brother. Amidst the festivities, Samah made a bold move, unveiling herself—a symbolic gesture of openness and trust. Little did she know that this act would lead to her becoming Hassan's bride, as he initially mistook her unveiling for a gesture intended for his brother's potential wife.
