In my abstract acrylic paintings, I have brought passionate emotions to life with an expressionist influence. There is a magic in every new beginning. It is a wonderful feeling to fall in love again, but often the loss of past love still resonates. But the beauty and newness and the curiosity about it will always prevail. My painting captures precisely these emotions. The strong reds symbolise the intensity and warmth of love, while softer shades of grey and white represent the tender, more vulnerable aspects of affection and longing. I wanted to create an atmosphere that immerses the viewer in a sea of passion and romance.

I am an artist living in Germany and my Name is Vera Jochum.
I have shown my paintings in several nationwide and international exhibitions. I describe my artistic practice as a constant process of construction and destruction. Thus, I intuitively apply paint, layer by layer, until I instinctively arrive at a desired result. I build the painting in many layers and want each painting to tell a story, and so each layer of paint adds a new chapter and invites a dialogue with the previous one. The creative process is a balance between intuitive marks on the canvas and careful consideration. I draw inspiration from the textures and stories we all encounter every day.
As with all abstract paintings, it is up to the viewer to interpret them.
Stylistically, I can be classified as abstract expressionism, but without committing myself to it. In my art I process what keeps me busy, as well as my personal feelings and also my chaos.
