Bowl with Vines , 6th-7th century
Gilded Silver

Typical tendrils of vine scrolls are arranged symmetrically along with grape clusters, lotus palmettes, birds and animals. The bearded figure in the center most likely represents Silenos, leader of the satyrs associated with the Greek god Dionysos of wine-making and festivity.
