For Syrian families who were initially displaced by the ongoing conflict in Syria, the deadly 2023 earthquakes in Turkey (officially the Republic of Türkiye) and Syria worsened an already unstable situation. The disaster destroyed the homes of over 855,000 people in Syria alone, and today, hundreds of thousands are still living in displacement camps. Since the earthquakes struck, World Vision staff have been supporting children and families with critical resources — including more than 22,000 heaters (one pictured here), which were distributed to schools and temporary shelters during the cold winter months. In the year following the disaster, World Vision supported 1.8 million people with resources to meet both immediate and long-term needs, including access to clean water and sanitation, hygiene kits, healthcare services, nutrition support, education programs, and more.
