Swan's Secret , 2024
100 x 100 x 75 cm (h x w x d)
Chicken Wire, Wire, Black Lace, String

Inspired by folklore of a crow tearing out its feathers, inserting instead other birds’ more beautiful ones, the piece implies self-distructive behaviours in search for normalised beauty. Uncommon in it’s blackness, the half bare swans’ quest to pluck away at istelf (remants strewn around it) shows the self-harm exclusion circulates. Lace and swans both associated to beauty, not embracing these attributes with macabre doubt overwhelming them highlights society’s demonization of uniqueness.
