Poem

This poem expresses a moment of epiphany. It depicts the beginning of the repair process, the most important part. The first half of the poem establishes a low-point moment of surrender to the forces of nature that have led the narrator to rock bottom. When the narrator falls asleep, expecting never to awaken, he dreams of a mundane moment with his mother that gives him hope and strength. This leads to the beginning of the repair process and to the narrator’s recovery.
